The existing conventional fire alarm system had reached the end of its serviceable life, offering limited visibility, higher maintenance burden, and increased risk of faults and false alarms. We were appointed to design and deliver a seamless upgrade to a fully addressable fire detection system—modernising life safety while ensuring the tower remained fully operational throughout the project. ### What we delivered Working in a live, high-security environment, we installed a new addressable fire alarm system featuring: - Intelligent detectors with pinpoint fault location and diagnostics - Addressable manual call points across all levels - Enhanced sounder coverage for clear evacuation signalling - A modern control panel with real-time system visibility - Phased installation to maintain continuous fire protection at all times Close collaboration with airport operations teams ensured all works were planned around critical air traffic activities, with strict access controls and risk management in place. ### Results that matter The upgraded system now provides: - Faster fault identification and reduced maintenance response times - Improved reliability and reduced nuisance alarms - Greater situational awareness for on-site teams - Full compliance with current fire safety standards - A future-proof platform for ongoing safety management By modernising the fire detection infrastructure in one of the airport’s most vital facilities, we helped safeguard people, operations, and continuity of service—without a single disruption to air traffic control. -
